Closet and Bathroom Update

Millwork Progress

You aren’t imaging things, I am actually posting twice in one week! It’s going to be a quick one to show a few progress shots from our bathroom and closet. I also apologize in advance for the crappy iPhone pictures. There are no overhead lights yet so I did the best I could lightening the photos.

Closet

Our closet is off our bathroom and also connects to the laundry room. It is nice size, but not huge (no closet island for me). Ryan and I both like clothes and shoes, but we have actually been making a conscious effort to purchase less and purge things we no longer wear. I keep saying we are building this house to fit lots of family and friends not stuff. We both have double rod hanging space, drawers, full length hanging space and floor to ceiling shoe shelves… if you know Ryan, you know why! I also had them build a narrow little cabinet on the end closest to our bathroom to store necklaces and earrings.

When you walk into our bathroom from our bedroom we have a linen cabinet. To the right is the closet and to the left is the water closet and vanity.  The heated floors have been installed, as well as the water-proofing in the shower. The vanities are built and are awaiting doors and drawers. Tile should start next week and the countertop fabricators should template soon. You can read more about the bathroom design here.

Millwork

There has been so much progress this past week. The lockers and the pantry have all been built out and the planking has gone up in a few areas. Progress photos here.  I plan to share some of those details next week. Most of the baseboard and trim is also complete. In the next week our ceiling treatments should go up in our bedroom and the living room, and doors and drawer fronts will be installed on the bathroom vanities. The painter will come after they are done followed by flooring!!! The last two months of a build are always a whirlwind of action. Fingers crossed I can keep up here!
